Mechanical Engineer

Job Description
Part-time/contract position for Mechanical Engineer supporting Phi Optics product design.

Location: Phi Optics offices at 1800 S. Oak Street, Champaign, IL.
Hours: Initially 10-20 hours a week, potential to become a full-time position as the company
grows

Responsabilities

• Design and build prototypes, create detailed drawings and instructions for production.
• Responsible for technical documentation (Models, CAD drawings, Simulations, BOMs, etc.) relevant to the mechanical design.
• Assess current mechanical design and optimize to reduce number of custom parts.
• Assemble Phi Optics products for delivery to customers.
• Identify outside partners for manufacturing of larger volumes of Phi Optics’ products.
• Work closely with management on products and customer requirements.

Skills and qualifications

• Preferred: prior mechanical design experience with optical assembly
• Prior experience with solid CAD design packages such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and similar
